Department Overview
The Investigative Services (IS) department helps to maintain the integrity of the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and TSX Venture Exchange (TSXV) markets by researching and preparing due diligence background reviews used in making suitability decisions on all officers and directors of Exchange listed issuers.
Role Overview
The Summer Intern will contribute to Investigative Services (IS) daily operations. This includes processing of criminal record checks, collaborating closely with securities commissions to exchange confidential information and working to process internal and external requests for research and other departmental tasks.
Key Accountabilities
- Process criminal record checks and update departmental databases with relevant information
- Liaise with regulatory and law enforcement contacts; exchange confidential information pertaining to investigative files
- Process external research requests to external vendors
- Assist in expense reporting and maintaining departmental statistics
- Assist in implementing operational improvement initiatives and projects within the team
- Act as a point of contact for customer inquiries and completing departmental tasks
- Prepare extensive research using databases, print sources and industry contacts
- Analyze and summarize pertinent legal, regulatory and financial industry records
- Assist in departmental projects
Must Haves
- Pursuing a Post-Secondary Degree with preferred focus on Information Studies, Business/Commerce, Finance, Political Science or Economics
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and an organized individual that can work independently
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excels in research skills: experience using commercial online databases (such as LexisNexis and Factiva) and internet search engines
- Experience providing excellent client service in a team oriented environment
Nice to Haves
- Canadian Securities Course (CSC)
- Google Suite application and Salesforce
Note
- Hybrid role: 2 days per week in the downtown Toronto office
- 4 month Co-op / Internship: May 5, 2025 - August 22, 2025
