The Vancouver Club is a distinguished private members club nestled in downtown Vancouver. Established in 1893, the Club has a rich history and a commitment to exceptional service offering an array of amenities, including dining, function spaces, accommodations, and fitness facilities.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Catering Manager to join the team. This is a hands-on role for a leader who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about delivering outstanding service.

OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW

As our Catering Manager, you will:
  • Manage daily catering operations, ensuring alignment with the Club’s mission and values.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Sales to develop an annual sales plan and budget.
  • Set and achieve catering and event sales goals, meeting budget targets.
  • Plan and coordinate Weddings, VIP, and Signature events.
  • Prepare event orders, including budgets and floor plans, and ensure timely communication with teams.
  • Oversee invoicing and accounts receivables.
  • Oversee large-scale events (150+ guests) with attention to detail and client satisfaction.
  • Write employee schedules and manage labor.
  • Motivate and train the catering team, ensuring clear communication and accountability.
  • Empower employees to deliver top-tier experiences for members and guests.
  • Ensure staff training and compliance with safety procedures.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Catering, onboard and train new members of the Catering team.
  • Participate in monthly catering team meetings and act as a liaison with other departments, leading them in the absence of the Director.
  • Supervise banquet operations, including room inspections and adherence to standards.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring exceptional service.
  • Address guest feedback and resolve any issues promptly.
  • Identify market trends and opportunities to enhance catering performance.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and implement improvements as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience required.
  • 5 years of experience in Event Planning required.
  • Previous experience working for a private club or hotel preferred.
  • Formal education in Event Planning preferred.
  • Proven expertise with executing large events with confidence.
  • Knowledge of finance, including budgets and invoicing.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and adapt to a flexible work schedule (evenings, weekends, holidays).
