Recreation Inclusion Summer Camp Counselor

(Full Time, Seasonal)

Schedule:

June 23rd-August 22nd 2025

*Preference will be given to applicants who can commit to the full summer*

Key Responsibilities:

  • Have energy, enthusiasm, and commitment when working 1:1 with campers in their camp group
  • Provide support to individual campers so they may actively participate in the larger camp group

Activities

  • Follow Ontario’s guidelines for Summer Camp Operations and adhere to BGC Hamilton-Halton’s Policies & Procedures

Supervision and Safety

  • Provide and maintain consistent supervision of assigned campers within ratio
  • Ensure that all equipment is functional and is in safe working condition
  • Complete administrative tasks in a timely manner and create and facilitate general camp activities as assigned
  • Help ensure the safety and security of the members and assist in responding to critical incidents as outlined in the Club’s policies and procedures

Communication

  • Maintain professional relationships with peers, members, volunteers, and parents
  • Communicate with parents and caregivers with respect to campers’ daily successes and challenges
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with teammates

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Have experience with children and/or in a camp setting preferred
  • Have strong supervision, facilitation, and program planning skills
  • Have good decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Have adaptability and the ability to work in high-pressure situations
  • Provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Have a Valid First Aid/CPR Level C (Red Cross preferred)

Wage: $17.20 / hr.
