About the Opportunity
The Community Outreach Worker (COW), reporting to the Health Services Manager, provides clinical services to adults and families affected by mental illness, substance use, or gambling disorder. Work takes place in both clinic and community settings, including tasks like screening, assessment, brief interventions, case management, and group treatment. The role involves navigation, advocacy, and coordination within Mental Health and Addictions and the community, using principles of harm reduction and psychosocial rehabilitation.
About You
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor of Social Work
- Registration with a professional regulatory body
- One year post-BSW clinical experience in Mental Health and Addictions
- Skills in screening and risk assessment, including suicide risk
- Ability to independently practice, assess, and implement evidence-based care
- Working knowledge of the DSM
- Experience with harm reduction and recovery-focused interventions
- Skills in crisis support and group facilitation
- Knowledge of community resources and development methods
- Understanding of recovery-oriented practice and client-centered care
- Awareness of social determinants of health
- Experience with trauma-informed care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain collaborative relationships
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
- Full Time Long Assignment; 75 hours biweekly
- Approximately 18 month term

Compensation and Benefits
$35.13 - $44.35 hourly
