The City of North Vancouver Engineering, Parks & Environment department requires a regular full-time Engineering Technician.

Responsibilities

This is a skilled technical engineering position responsible for technical field and office work related to a variety of municipal engineering functions such as:

• computer-aided design and review of systems and public works projects, systems, contributed assets, or third party utility construction projects;
• reviewing and commenting on development projects;
• reviewing and managing construction or utility inspection reports, including pipe condition assessments, and adding information to the City’s asset inspection databases;
• reviewing submitted record drawings and asset schedules and supporting asset management procedures;
• assisting in public procurement processes, including preparing and reviewing project related tenders and request for proposals;
• performing field reviews and documenting construction projects occurring in City rights-of-way, and ensuring conformity of plans to municipal standards, policies and regulations;
• supervising of one or more technicians related to design or inspection of public works; preparing and maintaining materials such as reports, plans, design drawings, records, and correspondence; and
• coordinating and managing business and resident communications for construction of City projects.
  
  

Requirements

You will have graduated from a Civil Engineering technology program and have considerable knowledge of municipal engineering design principles, meth­ods and techniques plus sound related experience in municipal engineering operations. Preference will be given to candidates that are eligible for registration with ASTTBC or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You will also be proficient with Microsoft Office and AutoDesk CAD applications. Experience working with modeling software such as Infowater and PCSWMM would be an asset. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License is also required.

Compensation

$42.45 to $50.13 per hour

Pay Grade 24 (January 2024 rates)

Hours of Work

The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.
