Company Introduction: T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada’s largest Asian supermarket chain with 31 stores across the country: 13 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 10 in Ontario, and 1 in Quebec. The Company’s continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years.

The Role: Reporting to the Meat Department Head (or his/her delegate), the Meat Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Department Head and Assistant Department Head in providing guidance, supervision and sets as a good example for Meat Assistants to follow.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Conduct quality control during receiving; manage inventory and product quality in display cases, walk- in cooler & walk-in freezer; follow FIFO concept; ensure full display of various meat products
  • Provide guidance and supervision to Meat Assistants; assist Department Head to train department staff
  • Follow procedures to process expired products and manage shrinkage
  • Prepare various meat products for sales activities, including but not limited to cutting, deboning, slicing, packing, and labeling various meat products and displaying them in the display coolers
  • Greet customers by providing good customer service with a smile, friendly enthusiasm
  • Assist customers in selecting meat products and provide recommendations to them, as required
  • Handle customers’ complaints, build rapport with our customers by providing good smile, eye contact and attention to them
  • Lead by example by performing duties of Meat Assistant as required
  • Familiar with the location of various meat items; keep self-updated with all in Meat Department promotion activities

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:

  • Flexible to work in shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evening hours, and statutory holidays
  • Have a good understanding of tools & equipment relevant to the job and know how to interpret labels of merchandise
  • Be prepared to stand for long periods and deal with products and lift products of 40 pounds on a regular basis
  • Be prepared to work in low temperature (0-4 ℃), freezing temperature (-18℃), and wet environment for long periods
  • Possess basic computer skills in MS Office
  • Not allergic to handling meat products
  • Able to communicate in English and Chinese (Cantonese &/or Mandarin)
  • Possess knowledge in workplace health & safety
