Graduate CFD Consultant

Wood's Consulting business in Calgary, AB is currently sourcing for a Graduate CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) Consultant to support CFD related consultancy projects in the Energy industry. The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate CFD knowledge acquired during education or first industrial experience, execute assigned scope of work, and support the developments of the well-established CFD business in the region. This position will report to the local CFD manager and the local Intelligent Operations Manager. The position will be based in our Calgary office.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong knowledge in combustion and/or multiphase flow modelling. This is a great opportunity to support major international clients, provide industry-leading technical solutions, and work with a global team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developments of the CFD team by performing CFD projects
- Support project management including monitoring of projects with an emphasis on delivery, schedule, and efficiency tracking
- Liaise and work with other discipline leads in order to develop the CFD business
- Liaise with third parties and clients as required
- Ensure that design methods, standards, and data used conform with Client's requirements and/or those issued by Wood
- Be responsible for the checking of process calculations in accordance with Wood quality assurance procedures
- Ensure a high standard of safety is achieved and Environmental and Quality Assurance procedures are followed
Key Requirements
- Minimum of Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field is required; advanced degree (majoring in CFD) is a strong asset
- Previous experience in CFD simulations for Oil & Gas Industry required
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience with using Commercial CFD software (ANSYS or Star-CCM) to conduct solid modelling and meshing for complex geometries
- Demonstrated understanding of fluid mechanics and heat transfer in multiphase flows
- Understanding of combustion phenomena (in fired heaters) is an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to write technical reports
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Must be a Canadian citizen or authorized to work lawfully in Canada without sponsorship from Wood.
