How Professional Practice Advisor – Digital Learning & Clinical Transformation supports our teams at Grand River Hospital:
We have an exciting opportunity for a temp full time Professional Practice Advisor (PPA) Digital Learning & Clinical Transformation, to work with our Professional Practice Team and Clinical Informatics.
Reporting to the Chief Practice Information Officer (CPIO), the Professional Practice Advisor aids in defining and navigating a path that supports and translates both digital learning and workflow development and supports the integration of clinical practice into the design and build of the Electronic Health Record. The PPA- DLCT would have oversight of the Digital Learning Specialists (DLS) and would support the organization in the following areas:
Digital Learning:
- Collaborate on self-guided learning for specialty roles
- Review feedback from learners and incorporate feedback to improve current self-guided learning
- Design and create critical assets to improve Cerner Learning Portal e-learning
- Collaborate with OD and other stakeholders to design and build EDGE courses
- Collaboration where required with physician learning
- Utilization of report data from various metrics, such as barcode scanning, early warning scoring, BPMH to improve Cerner training
- Report learner satisfaction metrics
Clinical Transformation:
- Collaborate with SMGH in continual improvements and align practices where applicable
- Collaborate with organizational stakeholders such as CPIO, Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO), clinical informatics, physicians, Education Practice Leads (EPL), Professional Practice Leads (PPL) to assist with prioritization of change requests
- Aid in supporting and translating in both digital learning and workflow development to support the integration of clinical practice into the design and build of the EHR
- Collaborate with front line staff to review critical workflows and advise CPIO, CMIO, clinical informatics leadership to ensure workflow designs align with patient safety initiatives (i.e., Accreditation standards)
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and improve inefficiencies by creating joint working group comprised of frontline staff, informatics, CPOE, EPLs, PPLs
Professional Practice Development
- There are a number of priorities we are facing now and will continue to face moving forward. Included in these priorities are:
- Cerner optimization
- Oncology CPOE Project
- Ongoing workflow development and management
- Cerner code upgrade
- Merger
Qualifications for the Digital Learning Specialist:
- Current registration in good standing as a Regulated Health Care Professional
- Post-Secondary/Undergraduate degree required
- Graduate degree in related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience (full time equivalent)
- Previous strong leadership experience required
- Previous experience in Professional Practice preferred
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills and effective problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal and strong listening skills
- Demonstrated customer service skills
- Experience with Cerner Millennium or other EHR required
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload
- Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement processes, adult learning principles and change management
- Excellent communication skills
- Working knowledge of healthcare legislation required
- Ability to travel from site to site
