Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall quality of product being shipped out to customers.
  • Owns the creation, maintenance, and publication of test protocols and specifications that keep suppliers and internal staff aware of company’s most up-to-date product standards & requirements.
  • Provides product quality expertise to category development teams to analyze specification and identify any potential quality concerns to prevent at the design stage.
  • Acts as RBI's technical expert in commodity category by executing investigations and providing advice to the Crisis Management Team on supply issues and actions with safety implications and perceptions.
  • Monitors and assesses Federal regulatory changes by agencies such as Health Canada and CPSC to ensure RBI legal compliance.
  • Participates in on-going enhancement of Continuous Improvement programs, especially of the RBI Specification System (SPEQ).
  • Evaluates and performs analysis on products to qualify and quantify critical specifications and processes, recommend any improvements, including cost reduction.
  • Works with all material suppliers to ensure testing is performed and meets all requirements.
  • Provides product safety expertise ensuring requirements are incorporated into product design and manufacturing level.
  • Ensures alignment between our 3rd Party Testing Partner and Tim Hortons greater QA team processes and guidelines.
  • Works in cooperation with Logistics, Legal, Customs Brokers, and Tim Hortons Corporate o ensure all product packaging, and labeling meets the local legal requirements for importing general merchandise to Canada.
  • Ensures all suppliers sign off on compliance agreement annually and maintains files.
  • Works with 3rd party testing facilities on finished product testing seasonally.
  • Deals with defective claims and quality issues with suppliers and ensures a Corrective Action Plan is put in place.
  • Mitigates Quality risk during development process from Samples stages to Bulk Production.
  • Under indirect supervision, responsible for development, maintenance and enforcement of product safety and quality control programs and procedures to monitor the quality of assigned commodity suppliers for 5,000 restaurants.
  • Evaluates consumer and restaurant complaint information and analyzes supply chain to determine incident cause and verify corrective actions/preventive measures

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Quality Assurance experience, preferably in the textiles industry or similar manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years leadership or corporate experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Science or other Quality-related field equivalent work experience
  • Experience working with international vendors
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Knowledge of current manufacturing and further processing in Merchandise, Drinkware, Textiles, Toys
  • Knowledge of laboratory testing procedures and processes to monitor supplier performance standards
  • Knowledge of general merchandise product range (confectionery, drinkware, home décor, apparel, home fragrance) is preferred
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Ability to influence others and resolve conflicts diplomatically
  • Strong analytical and processing skills with aptitude to interpret technical data to make supplier performance decisions
  • Effective communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with diverse audiences and stakeholders
