We are looking for a skilled Meat Cutter to join our team! This role’s responsibilities include performing quality inspections, using meat grinders, knives, saws, and other tools to cut meat down into smaller portions, weigh, price, and package cuts, and ensure that displays and signage are attractive and eye-catching. The successful candidate will also speak to customers to determine their needs, providing advice regarding proper cuts of meat and preparation methods.

To succeed as a Meat Cutter, we are looking for someone who is great with customers, knowledgeable, and detail-oriented, with excellent communication skills and a strong understanding of meat quality, cuts, and preparation.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist customers with meat selection including cutting, trimming, and preparing products to customer specifications.
  • Package, weigh, and price customer orders.
  • Clean and maintain specialty knives and equipment.
  • Provide customers with information about different types and cuts of meat, cooking methods, and preparation techniques.
  • Maintain display cases to health and safety standards with proper product rotation.
  • Ensure the store is clean, safe, and ready for shoppers.
  • Rotation, loading and unloading of meat department product.
  • Stock and replace products to avoid any damages.
  • Backroom and inventory management.
  • Assist the department with regular inventory count.
  • Assist with other departmental functions, which include but are not limited to rotating, stocking, cleaning, and maintaining the appearance and organization of the store.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proven customer service or retail experience is a plus.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Good communication and people skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Available to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Journeyman certificate or verifiable experience as a Meat Cutter required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Ability to lift between 20 - 90 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in a cold environment (coolers and freezers).
  • Frequent bending, walking, standing, twisting, pushing, or pulling.

Hourly Rate:

$21.00/hour starting wage (plus shift premiums as applicable).
