Role Overview
The District Manager is responsible for executing SportChek / FGL Sports strategy and providing strong leadership to store operations teams within the District. This role includes overseeing regional talent management, coaching for improved store performance, and maintaining operational standards. The District Manager is accountable for achieving key business metrics and ensuring compliance with corporate store operations standards.
Responsibilities
- Effectively communicate direction and performance expectations to all store teams.
- Develop and implement short-term execution strategies that align with quarterly business objectives.
- Monitor and analyze key business metrics (e.g., Sales, Employee development, Customer Service, Expenses, Shrink, Compliance) and initiate appropriate action.
- Foster a culture of consistent execution within the 5 success Factors foundation strategy.
- Partner with Senior Operations Management to identify business opportunities (Marketing, Purchasing, Real Estate).
- Contribute to the Operations business planning process and setting business goals.
- Assist in developing and implementing new programs (Process documents, LP planning).
- Facilitate the introduction and reinforcement of FGL’s leadership Brand to all team members.
- Ensure store teams are full, reflective of our Brand positioning, and ready to maximize seasonal business opportunities.
- Create an environment for the execution of new concepts and initiatives with minimal disruption to daily routine.
Required Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of the retail industry with 5+ years in progressively responsible roles.
- Minimum 3 years of experience managing multi-store territories with a focus on people leadership.
- Strong leadership skills and a track record of developing management talent.
- Ability to communicate, delegate, and execute initiatives effectively.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence results.
- Self-motivated with the ability to motivate others.
- Strong customer focus with emphasis on relationship building.
- Proven track record of achieving targets and strategic objectives.
- A passion for sports and promoting a healthy active lifestyle.
Academic / Educational Requirements
- Post-secondary education in business or marketing is an asset.
