The role sits on the Americas Global Category Team focused in the commercial categories and reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing Procurement. This role will partner with the global business for the Patient Support Program category. This role will collaborate within the Global Procurement Network to plan and lead the global category strategy in addition to leading execution of those plans in the Americas.

Strategy:

Accountable for owning the evolution and implementation of the Patient Support Program category strategy in the US and Global markets to assure alignment with dynamic business requirements while driving value in terms of savings, removing complexity, supplier performance and innovation.

Accountable for the global category strategy and leading the procurement network this person will assure strategic sourcing, supplier collaboration, supplier performance management, contract and risk management and sustainability efforts are fit for purpose and optimized for innovation.

Business & Supplier Engagement:

  • Accountable for maintaining expert knowledge of respective US and global supply markets, competitors and innovations within the Patient Support Programs supply market.

  • Facilitate implementation of procurement change initiatives within category and across the enterprise to improve business performance.

  • Develop an extensive understanding of customer needs and the business environment with senior stakeholders.

  • Build positive trusted advisor relationships with stakeholders and be a partner of choice.

  • Address supplier issues to ensure the highest level of service delivery. Maintains contractual and business relationships with suppliers to the highest standards.

  • Develops senior level relationships in order to resolve issues, optimize business performance and develop future improvement opportunities.

  • Own the implementation of key performance metrics across the business.

  • Negotiate with suppliers to resolve contractual issues.

  • Foster positive relationships with suppliers to achieve efficient pricing and quality of services.

  • Drive competitive sourcing events (RFIs, RFPs, Single Source Negotiations) and support supplier evaluation, selection commercial negotiation and market awareness.

  • Partner with key suppliers to review Patient Program related savings initiatives and report to Finance team.

  • Instill the highest standards of compliance and ethics consistently across AZ.

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in a business related or marketing discipline.

  • 8-10 years of Procurement experience.

  • Thorough knowledge of pharmaceutical industry.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration, negotiation, analytical and project management skills.

  • Proven leadership experience and ability to work independently with minimal mentor.

Desirable

  • Understanding of multiple aspects of procurement process.

  • Master’s degree in a business related or marketing discipline.
