Recreation Leader
City of Brandon
Position Conditions: This is a seasonal position offered under the Collective Agreement with CUPE Local 69. First consideration is given to current City of Brandon CUPE employees. The City reserves the right to underfill this position.
Rate of Pay: $15.80 per hour (2023 Rate)

PURPOSE OF POSITION
Under the general direction of the Recreation Hub Programmer, the incumbents will lead and oversee activities of the Recreation Department, enhancing life and social skills in a fun and safe environment. Activities include swimming, skating, team sports, arts & crafts, music & dance, cultural education, and outdoor exploring.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, supervise, and participate in program activities under the direction of the Recreation Program Assistant;
- Provide leadership and direction to participants with enthusiasm;
- Ensure a safe, cooperative, and enjoyable environment for participants;
- Adjust program activities for various group sizes, interests, and skill levels;
- Implement the evaluation plan and submit a final report on the program;
- Adhere to public health guidelines at all times;
- Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Emergency First Aid/Level C CPR (to be obtained upon hire);
- Successful completion of a Criminal Reference Check and Child Abuse Registry Check;
- Related experience in recreation, programming, education, or sports;
- Previous experience working with children;
- Experience in a multi-ethnic setting.
