Role Description
Reporting to the VP Canada with a dotted line to VP Finance, MTG, the Finance Manager – MTG Canada is responsible to provide support, advice, analysis, and recommendations to MTG Canada.
Core Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Leads financial analysis and financial modelling for strategic investments and operational reviews. Ultimately provides information that supports strategic decision making, forecasting, and achieving business goals.
- Provides input into the strategic direction of the business for MTG Canada.
- Make recommendations for business practices for MTG Canada that support operations and business goals.
- Ensures the internal controls of MTG Canada are sufficient and appropriate to safeguard our assets.
- Provides ongoing financial reporting and ad hoc analysis to the MTG Canada.
- Contributes to a culture that reflects the Kal Tire AIMS by leading internal initiatives that contribute to BEST careers, team member engagement, and a positive work environment.
- Acts as financial leader for continuous improvement and growth initiatives.
Accounting and Financial Operations
- Preparing and presenting Board Packages.
- Preparation of annual budget and ongoing analysis of any variances between budget and actual.
- Prepare all financial segments within tender documents.
- Preparation of Pro forma financial statements for all new business and contract renewals.
- Developing and recommending different business models.
- Oversees accounting policies and practices in Canadian operations, ensuring that the practices are adhered to, and the appropriate financial controls are in place.
- Ensures adherence to the authorization matrix and makes recommendations for change.
- Recommends appropriate credit limits for MTG Canada customers.
- Finds opportunities for improving financial practices and liaising with shared services with the goal of improving financial efficiencies, decision making, and reporting.
- Analyzes the holistic financial picture and makes recommendations for optimizing margins, and financial performance across MTG Canada operations.
- Provides periodic follow up and audit of policies to ensure compliance and liaises with internal audit.
- Develops and maintains internal controls to ensure accuracy in financial statements.
- Analyzes profit margins in various regional markets to determine cross-market performance and makes recommendations to streamline business practices.
Intelligence Business
- Ensures the chosen tool and provides relevant, timely information to MTG management.
Capital Expenditures
- Review and recommend capital expenditures.
Inventory Reporting
- Ensures that inventory levels are suitable for the business and prevailing market.
- Ensures that inventory gains or losses are adequately investigated to obtain an understanding of their underlying nature; makes recommendations for prevention of recurrences to the appropriate business managers.
- Liaison with the inventory department.
Manage MTG Administration Team
- Leads the MTG Admin Team at VO that supports the broader Canadian business, currently comprised of the following:
- MTG Canada Payroll administrator (CPA certified)
- Resolve issues and ensure compliance with CBA, Averaging agreements and other statutory requirements are met.
- OTR Inside Sales Coordinator
- OTR Analyst Coordinator
- Ensure VO administrative team provides timely, accurate, and effective support to MTG Canada
Work Experience
- Minimum 8 years accounting/finance experience
- Experience with financial analysis and modeling, which leads to improved business operations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of financial practices and controls.
- Ability to build relationships with key financial partners (internal and external).
- Ability to present to the Board and maintain composure when challenged.
- Ability to lead change initiatives.
- Proficient with data analysis including Power BI or similar.
Education
- Finance designation required
Special Requirements
- Flexible to travel across Canada – approximately 10%.
