The opportunity

  • Undertake 3D modelling, analytical research and calculations, design work, measurement of noise and vibration
  • Assist with preparation of reports, drawings, sketches, models
  • Visit project sites for inspections, measurements, commissioning, and testing
  • Develop, document, and present concepts and designs using 2D and 3D drawing tools
  • Interpret and apply codes and standards
  • Review engineering and architectural drawings
  • Participate in meetings, design reviews, and coordination sessions with clients and design teams
  • Develop solutions to design issues using listening, critical thinking, application of knowledge, and visual demonstrations to clients

Required

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in acoustics or electroacoustics OR an equivalent in science, architecture, engineering, music with shown coursework in acoustics or related field
  • Professional demeanor
  • Skills in planning, prioritization, and organization
  • Demeanor of taking initiative, passion, and eagerness to learn
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills for internal and external collaborators
  • Knowledge of French is required for positions permanently located in Quebec so incumbents can communicate with their colleagues, clients, partners and suppliers in Quebec as necessary
  • Candidate must be eligible to work in Canada without the need for employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future

Preferred

  • Bilingualism is preferable – and required in some positions – in order to communicate with colleagues, clients, partners and suppliers located outside Quebec
  • Master’s degree in acoustics or equivalent
  • Knowledge of fundamentals of acoustics, fundamentals of vibration, engineering acoustics, noise control, digital signal processing, electroacoustics, human responses to acoustics and vibration
  • A background/training in music practice, playing of a musical instrument can be useful
  • Evidence of personal investment in academic or extracurricular field
  • Acoustic and electroacoustic software modeling experience: CATT, EASE, Odeon
  • 3D modeling and drafting software: AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, Sketchup
  • Additional computing skills: Max/MSP, Unity Game Engine, Steam VR, Python, TouchDesigner, Disguise (D3), Houdini, OpenFrameworks, Java/OpenGL, Adobe creative suite, Cinema4D, Maya, Node.js, HMTL/CSS/SASS, React.js, Tone.js, MongoDB, WebVR, JavaScript/jQuery, Processing, Arduino, C# / C++, Ableton Live, Sound design (Foley, Music for films, Interactive / Generative sound design), Matlab, ProTools, Audition, Excel, Visual Basic
  • Experience with recording, sound design, Foley, music for films, 3D sounds, multimedia, interactive or generative sound design, live sound, video production, production/staging

The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Montreal is $18.50 to $30.00 per hour. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Montreal will differ.
