Heavy Labour – Casual Part-time Project Based Work

Currently, we are looking for individuals with a strong work ethic to perform Heavy Labour for upcoming Industrial projects in the area. Applicants must be physically capable of performing heavy labour and standing for long periods of time. Previous relevant experience is an asset but not required if other qualifications are met.
**All successful applicants are required to attend 3 days of training (paid at minimum wage) February 4, 5 and 6th**
Qualifications:
- Must be physically fit and capable of performing heavy labour tasks and standing for long periods of time and have Heavy Labour experience.
- Must be physically capable of heavy lifting (50 lbs.) continuously, shoveling coal, operating wash down hoses, scraping/cleaning grease and performing other heavy labour tasks in a dirty work environment for long periods of time.
- Must be physically capable of working in both indoor and outdoor environments, in various weather conditions.
- Must read, write, and speak English clearly and fluently.
- Experience with labour tools is an asset.
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Preference given to those having a Valid Class 5 Driver’s license and 3 years driving experience and a clean driving abstract.
- Must have a personal cellphone as well as basic computer knowledge.
- Must successfully complete the mandatory internal 3-day training.
- Must provide ‘own’ ankle covering steel-toed boots (Other PPE will be provided).
- Having reliable transportation to get to and from site is an asset.
- Valid OFA1/Standard First Aid or equipment operator certificate is an asset but not required.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for performing heavy labour duties as required.
- Monitor hot work activities and know how to operate a fire extinguisher, inform relevant authorities, and safely evacuate the area in case of emergency, as needed. (Training Provided)
- Responsible for monitoring and recording confined space activity, as needed (Training provided).
- Monitor atmospheric air quality using electronic gas monitor devices, as needed. (Training provided)
- Participate in all pre-job and daily tailgate meetings.
- Wear a respiratory protection mask where necessary (MUST be clean shaven).
- Assess and communicate all hazards and conditions involved in the work site with Supervisor.
- Operate a radio to communicate as required.
- Complete all necessary logs and paperwork as required.
Job Types: Part-time, Casual
Pay: $22.50-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 12 – 40 per week

- Overtime pay
