The Role
The Social Media Manager works alongside a team of strategists, account managers, designers and content experts to develop and execute best-in-class social strategy across the Scotiabank social media channels. This position is an integral part of the team and will contribute to the strategic and creative thinking of the Social & Content team for various business lines across Scotiabank Canada. The Social Media Manager contributes to the overall success of Scotiabank by ensuring specific goals, plans and initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s strategies and objectives. The individual also finds opportunities to integrate with Global Teams and leverage shared knowledge to enhance social content strategy while ensuring all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

The Role

The individual also finds opportunities to integrate with Global Teams and leverage shared knowledge to enhance social content strategy while ensuring all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Accountable for supporting the implementation and optimization of the Social Media strategy to audiences across Canada and global markets.
- Lead the social strategy in support of various Business Lines for Scotiabank, including Retail, Enterprise, and Commercial Banking.
- Define relevant social media KPIs to measure and analyze ongoing progress for future optimizations.
- Manage and oversee social media content development, including strategic planning, ideation, creation, copywriting, and publishing of social-first content.
- Work with multi-media designers to ensure content is informative, engaging, and entertaining.
- Has a strong understanding of social paid media to ensure content is timely, engaging and targeted to relevant audiences.
- Stay up-to-date with latest social media best practices, partners, tools, trends and technology.
- Champion a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
- Support the global social media centre of practice with peers across channels and geographies.
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:
- Degree in marketing, design, public relations, or relevant field
- Advanced written, verbal, and communication skills
- 5+ years of experience as a Social Media strategist agency or brand side
- Deep understanding of social media metrics and best practices
- Advanced experience copywriting for social media platforms
- Advanced platform knowledge, including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, X, and LinkedIn
- Strong experience with community management best practices
- Familiarity with social media paid acquisition
- Experience with social publishing platforms, social analytics tools, and social listening
- Critical thinking and great leadership skills
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills
- Curiosity and a desire to grow within the Bank
- Organization and time management
