Position Overview:
Provide HR and administrative support for the Canada Goose facility in various areas including employee labour relations, health and safety, recruitment, orientation, payroll, performance and attendance management.
What You’ll Do:
Human Resources Function:
- Legal Compliance: Responsible for understanding, interpreting and supporting compliance with all relevant employment legislative requirements including Health & Safety, Employment Standards, Human Rights, etc.
- Performance and Attendance Management:
- Coordinate the performance and attendance management cycle within the client group.
- Provide expertise and support on performance and attendance management concerns through fair and consistent application of appropriate disciplinary procedures and/or legal requirements.
- Prepare corrective discipline action letters and coordinate the meetings with employees, management, and union.
- Recruitment: Attract and secure qualified personnel. Ensure that the recruitment process for hourly and salaried employees is carried out in accordance with legislative requirements.
- Support recruitment for client groups if required. Partnering with TA to ensure following the right processes and procedures.
- Provide new employees with a comprehensive onboarding program to enable a smooth transition into CG.
- Coordinate annual compliance training and ensure all training records are documented in appropriate systems.
- Prepare internal HR-related documents including employment, promotion and transfer letters, corrective discipline action letters, and termination forms.
- First point of contact for HRIS inquiries for employees within the client group.
- Coordinate with the Total Rewards and Benefits team the correct enrollment to the benefits plan and assist the employees in relation to their benefits-related inquiries.
- Coordinate and ensure correct Payroll process for client group in a timely manner. Process the Payroll Action File and review the Executive Summary Report.
- Support HR Business Partner closely with legal matters to ensure business is protected at all times.
- Support in conducting employee exits for client groups, ensuring CBA, contractual and legal compliance.
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of appropriate documentation throughout employment history for all employees.
- Support and implement various HR projects and initiatives as led by the HR team.
Employee Relations:
- Assist in providing counsel to client groups on all employee labour relations matters, the interpretation and application of CBA, policies, procedures and programs.
- Respond to inquiries regarding CBA, policies, procedures and programs to facilitate consistency and equity.
- Investigate discrimination and harassment complaints; resolve conflict situations.
- Establish and maintain good relationships with employees and management.
- Listen to and respond to concerns.
Prevention, Safety and Wellness:
- Support safety, health, and security programs to ensure a safe and secure work environment through industry best practices, effective disability claims management, strong working relationships with key stakeholders, and knowledge of legislative requirements.
- Support in managing Worker’s Compensation cases and safe return to work programs.
- Support and coordination in managing JHSC matters and facility inspections.
Let’s Talk About You:
- A post-secondary education in a related field, coupled with 2+ years of experience in a similar role.
- Ongoing professional development within the Human Resources field.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant employment legislation.
- Exposure to labour relations including support in handling grievances, and employee labour relations.
- Ability to work autonomously, engaging support and alignment from HR Manager.
- Well-versed in several HR functional competencies and best practices.
- Creativity and demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of change and ambiguity are critical.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure & Keen sense of time management and flexibility.
- A passion for the entire people cycle.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent grammar, business letter and report writing skills in English.
- A clear and succinct communicator (verbal and written); excellent listening skills.
- Ability to think proactively, critically, and independently to make good decisions.
- A team player who builds strong relationships based on trust and integrity.
- A clear sense of urgency to achieve results.
