Summary

Yard Support Maintenance Workers are leaders in safety and efficient operating practices. You will be accountable to provide safe, efficient, effective, and cost-effective yard operations.

This is a permanent full-time position. The regular schedule is 6:30am to 2:30pm or 7:00am to 3:00pm, Monday through Friday, but can change due to operational requirements.

Specific Duties And Responsibilities

  • Work safely.
  • Maintain safe and clean equipment and work area.
  • Effectively participate as a team member in the operations of the facility.
  • Receive and inspect equipment returning from job sites.
  • Organize and arrange equipment in the yard.
  • Assist team members with equipment preparation.
  • Receive and unload deliveries of parts, and materials; ensure proper storage.
  • Clean and maintain equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Train in unfamiliar processes and equipment, within established guidelines.
  • Operation of equipment and vehicles.
  • Support Field Technicians in the field as needed.
  • Transport parts and materials to and from sites.
  • Follow Environment, Health and Safety policies, procedures, and all environmental protocols and requirements.
  • Actively participate in safety meetings, identify and report all incidents, and participate in investigations as necessary.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of internal and external customer requirements and provide quality service.
  • Perform other operational duties as assigned including manual labor example (shoveling, cleaning sites, site layouts, pressure washing, etc.).
  • Work in an outdoor setting in various weather conditions.
  • Performs yard housekeeping duties as required to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications And Education

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and a fairly clean Commercial Driving Abstract.
  • Forklift experience would be an asset.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Ability to perform moderately labour intensive and repetitious tasks.
  • Physically fit with the ability to lift +50lbs and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Solid written communication skills to complete required paperwork.
  • Possess effective verbal communication skills to interact with Company staff, contractors, and customers.
  • Ability to multi-task, exercise good judgment and think proactively.
  • Work without direct supervision with only assistance from fellow team members and general operating and safety guidelines.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with strong work ethic and positive attitude to represent the GFL brand effectively and favorably.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions

This is a safety sensitive position. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
