Purpose

The primary goal of the Logistics Coordinator will be to monitor the usage and stock of train parts, guest merchandise, products, and supplies to ensure availability of product for our teams and for our guests. This position will also be responsible to purchase supplies for the train, track shipments, and ensure all invoices pertaining to purchases are accurate and receiving is tracked.

Reporting to the Manager, Supply Chain & Logistics, the Logistics Coordinator is an integral team member of Rocky Mountaineer team working alongside a diverse group of people who are committed to working together, supporting our values and ensuring we are always on brand as a world class luxury rail tour company.

Key Areas of Accountability

  • Provision parts requests to our mechanical team
  • Maintain accurate inventory through cycle counts, proper documentation and product placement
  • Works proactively with suppliers and purchasers to ensure delivery of orders and timely returns of defective or incorrect shipments, credits, cores, etc.
  • Evaluate and foster positive relationships with shipping companies, international brokers, vendors and suppliers and logistics agreements
  • Negotiate cost savings & efficiencies for shipping contracts
  • Receive, record and track incoming and outgoing deliveries
  • Ensure accurate invoicing and shipping statements to packing slips
  • Supports product flow from supplier through supply chain to end user
  • Assist Distribution/Mechanical Hand team members when necessary
  • Other duties as instructed by managers or supervisors

Safety

  • Identify & report safety hazards, escalate unsafe conditions to management or H&S Committee
  • Ensure warehouse related equipment is inspected and in safe operating condition
  • Maintain basic first aid level provided by Rocky Mountaineer

Operations

  • Ensure all business needs are met in a timely, efficient manner
  • Support 5S Lean methodology to seek continuous improvement efficiencies
  • Provide support during Emergency Operations (EOC)

Mechanical

  • Support the maintenance of RM facilities, warehouse and shop areas
  • Lead the completion of warehouse and facility work orders on brand safely and efficiently
  • Provide support to various projects as the situation arises
  • Required to train for and perform safely additional duties to support the successful execution of the operating plan

Experience

Qualifications

  • 2 to 3 years Supply Chain, Logistics / Warehouse experience
  • Experience with accounts payables and receivables preferred
  • High attention to detail, analytical & critical thinking skills required
  • Proficient with MS Office suite, knowledge in Enterprise Asset Management software an asset
  • 5S or Lean Experience an asset

Education, Certification, Licenses

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Certification in Purchasing or Logistics (CPM or CLM) or equivalent relative experience may be considered
  • Forklift certification an asset
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License or equivalent (Classes 1,2,3, 4 considered an asset)
  • First Aid certification is an asset

Work Environment

  • Kamloops office – 525 CN Road – 40-hour work week on average
  • Possible hours include: April to October - Sunday-Friday day or night shift. October to April - day shift Monday to Friday
  • Physical demands may require lifting up to 50 lbs. on occasion
  • This job is deemed Safety Sensitive. This position requires the incumbent to periodically access an active railway area where impaired performance could result in a significant incident affecting the health and safety of team members, guests, the public, property or the environment.

Compensation

  • The base salary for this role is $48,000 - $55,000 per annum and can vary based on job-related expertise, experience and internal equity.
  • Eligible for Rocky Mountaineer's Short Term Incentive Plan (STIP)
