HR Generalist

Join the LKQ Family! We are looking for a dedicated and passionate HR Generalist to join our team in covering the provinces of Ontario, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. The successful candidate will provide guidance on human resources operational issues, employment law, and design, implement, and support various human resource programs including general HR program and policy development, administration, compliance, employee hiring, onboarding, termination, and records maintenance, communications, and HR-related training.
Responsibilities
- Perform various human resources duties in recruiting, employment, compensation, benefits, training, and employee relations.
- Provide guidance on HR operational issues and develop new programs to meet management needs.
- Partner with management teams to facilitate the delivery of HR services.
- Serve as contact for employees, answering questions regarding HR policies and procedures.
- Support talent acquisition and onboarding functions, including sourcing, scheduling, selection, background checking, and record retention.
- Manage employee relations, investigate complaints, and ensure timely resolution and documentation.
- Assist in management of leaves of absence, workers compensation cases, and unemployment claims.
- Conduct investigations and ensure compliance with provincial legislation and company policies.
- Create reports and evaluate results to recommend new approaches, policies, and processes.
- Ensure employee data integrity and confidentiality.
Job Requirements
- Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or related field; 3+ years of related experience; knowledge of Workday (HCM) is an asset.
- Preferred Qualifications: CHRP or CPHR certification; bi-lingual capability (English/French) is an asset.
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Strong knowledge of provincial legislation, communication skills, knowledge of Canadian payroll principles, and strong problem-solving skills.
- Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment: Requires sitting and typing for long periods, ability to work under frequent interruptions, willing to travel up to 50% of the time, hybrid position (3 days in the office per week).
