Our BC Cancer – Victoria team is hiring a Regional Lead for our Malignant Hematology program.

BC Cancer Malignant Hematology Regional Leads provide the leadership needed to build, foster and maintain a regional malignant hematology program throughout BC’s health regions by working collaboratively with BC Cancer regional leadership, clinicians, hospital administration and regional health authority executives. The BC Cancer Malignant Hematology Regional Leads actively engage hematologists across health regions to implement BC Cancer malignant hematology services and enhance communication between the region’s hematologists and BC Cancer medical and radiation oncology providers.

The successful candidate will engage the hematology community in the development of an integrated provincial malignant hematology program. Ensuring that high quality malignant hematology care is available to cancer patients across BC is a key priority of this strategy. Better hematology care for cancer patients will require an improved governance system that promotes provincially planned and regionally delivered hematology services. The candidate will facilitate by improving partnerships between the providers of cancer care, the hospitals where this care is provided and the regional BC Cancer Centres where adjuvant care is available. Identifying, promoting and evaluating best practices in multidisciplinary cancer care are key aspects of the role. Regional leads for malignant hematology will work with regional and provincial leaders to address deficiencies and improve access to services.

Victoria is one of Canada’s most beautiful cities and offers the country’s most temperate year-round climate. Vancouver Island is known for its spectacular Pacific Ocean beaches, ski hills, sailing, hiking and fishing.

Qualifications

Qualification for the BC Cancer Malignant Hematology Regional Lead position includes Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada specialty certification in hematology with a practice focused on the care of cancer patients. Demonstrated leadership in quality improvement, experience with regional collaboration and BC Cancer involvement are considered key assets for the Regional Lead position.
