Personal Support Worker (PSW)
Vaughan Adult Day Program Full-time Position
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
Return of Service: $10,000 to new or recent PSW graduates as of April 1, 2023, in exchange for a 12-month full-time commitment
The Adult Day Program (ADP) is a full-day community-based program providing respite to caregivers and individualized care plans for older adults and persons with age-related conditions. It includes a variety of social and wellness activities, companionship, nutritious snacks, and lunch in a safe, friendly environment addressing social isolation.
Role Overview:
Reporting to the Day Program Supervisor, you will provide personal care and social support.
Position Requirements:
- PSW certificate required
- Cognitive dementia experience
- Experience in Adult Day Program setting, an asset
- LTC experience an asset
- First Aid and CPR certification mandatory
- Experience working with/caring for seniors
- Well-developed team skills, leadership skills with ability to take initiative
- Effective problem solving and conflict management skills in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work well within a changing environment
- Strong effective communication in English (verbal/written)
- Demonstrated strong customer service skills
- Demonstrated strong organizational skills
- Computer competency – Word, Outlook, database
- Successful completion of Food Handlers course
- Medication management an asset
- Driver's license an asset
- Fluency in both official languages (English & French) or other language(s), an asset.
Responsibilities:
- Providing personal care, escorting & transferring, meal preparation to clients of the Adult Day Program
- Assisting with the ADP programs and completing computer documentation.
