Position Overview

We have a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Senior Buyer on the Supply Management team. Reporting to the Manager, Supply Management, Supply Services, we are looking for someone who is able to understand the business needs of our internal customers as well as changing business conditions to execute procurement strategies that deliver the best value to the organization.

The successful candidate will play an integral part in ongoing client and supplier relationship management, applying procurement policies, and executing the steps of full-cycle procurement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, evaluate, and execute procurement strategies to achieve best value for the organization
  • Perform business intelligence and market analysis to guide and support business units for strategic and tactical procurement initiatives and category management
  • Build and manage successful relationships with vendors and support vendor performance management
  • Source and procure goods and services using competitive processes, including preparing RFx documents and administrating the entire procurement cycle through an online bidding platform (Bonfire)
  • Negotiate with vendors and prepare agreements using template documents
  • Prepare documents such as strategy documents, approval memorandums and reports for internal review and approval
  • Work with client groups and with supporting business units such as Finance, Legal, and Risk to drive the procurement process

Key Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of recent experience in procurement in a complex business and operations environment, supplemented by a bachelor’s degree in business, commerce, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • A professional designation, such as Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
  • Strong knowledge and experience in executing full-cycle goods and services procurement strategies
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Ability to understand and apply procurement and organizational policies
  • Ability to draft documents including strategy documents, reports and memorandums as well as RFx’s and contracts (from templates)
  • Proficiency in conducting market research and analysis
  • Highly skilled at building and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills in managing cross functional teams and projects

This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.

Salary Range : $89,904 to $117,498 per annum, based on a 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications and internal equity.
