Manager, North America Procurement

This role will work closely with key stakeholders in the businesses, the incumbent will leverage their deep knowledge of the category, to identify and implement effective cost reduction strategies and change management plans. The incumbent will deliver targeted savings through actions such as consolidating global company-wide purchasing volume and applying total cost of ownership levers to reduce cost and manage contracts with suppliers.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead cross-functional teams to execute on low to medium value/complexity sourcing projects and contracting efforts. Determine sourcing strategy and conduct analysis and negotiations.
- Influence requirements from business partners necessary to evaluate and select suppliers
- Conduct baseline and market analysis, develop sourcing strategy and conduct contract negotiations
- Read and understand contract and commercial terms in current contracts and proposals.
- Manage sourcing resources and engage subject matter experts (such as legal, risk and finance) in support of a specific set of commodities and/or a business line
- Provide sourcing thought leadership and day-to-day oversight of resource activities
- Be responsible for the accuracy of contract archives
- Track expirations of existing contracts and develop work plan for renewals, interact with legal and drafting teams to incorporate results of negotiations into contract documents
- Provide supporting analytics to finance team to validate realized savings
- Manage relations with key business partners and project owners to develop/maintain strong working relationships
- Support vendor managers in execution of business led initiatives as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate degree (business preferred)
- Knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory requirements relating to management of third party outsourcing in the jurisdictions in which Manulife operates
- Knowledge of financial, actuarial and insurance systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- IT Infrastructure contracts/sourcing experience
- Extensive knowledge of IT software/SaaS solutions/vendor
- Undergraduate degree (business preferred)
- 6+ years of progressive business experience in global supply chain management and/or vendor management and/or contract management
- Solid knowledge of sourcing and procurement principles and best practices
- Experience and expertise with supplier contractual terms and conditions to mitigate legal and business risk
- Experience with sourcing and procurement systems and tools
- Solid analytical skills
