As a Transit Operator, you will safely operate various transit vehicles, ensuring a courteous and respectful experience for passengers and other road users. As a Service Worker, you will perform essential manual tasks, including cleaning and preparing buses, as well as providing temporary backup for Transit Operators.

This is a temporary position, with casual hours, but it's also a unique opportunity to join the City of Medicine Hat team, gain valuable experience, and be part of a supportive workplace that truly makes a difference in the community. While shifts cannot be guaranteed, there are weekly opportunities to pick up additional hours, offering a degree of flexibility. This a great starting point for those seeking long-term growth and development within the organization.

If you possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, excel as a team player, and are committed to delivering outstanding customer service, this could be the perfect role for you!

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use independent judgment to make sound decisions, ensuring smooth daily operations.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, as we cannot provide a set schedule or guarantee a specific number of hours. While our current drivers work an average of 30+ hours per week, actual hours may vary based on operational needs. Shifts may include rotating days, evenings, nights, weekends, and short-notice or call-in shifts.
