The Gig: Intermediate Security Engineer

We’re hunting for a game-changer—a security engineer who can think big, act fast, and bring security to the next level. As an Intermediate Security Engineer at Certn, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement, monitor, and enhance security measures. You’ll be on the frontlines of risk assessments, incident response, and keeping our infrastructure secure, all while ensuring we stay compliant with industry standards like SOC 2 and ISO 27001.

If you're the type who thrives on proactively identifying risks, is ready to champion a security-first mindset across the organization, and loves a challenge that doesn’t come with a template, we need you.

What You’ll Be Doing (and Crushing):

  • Develop, maintain, and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures to reduce risks and support organizational growth.
  • Conduct proactive risk assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and recommend mitigation strategies to safeguard critical assets.
  • Ensure compliance with SOC 2 and ISO 27001 standards by implementing robust security controls and supporting audits.
  • Respond to security incidents and vulnerabilities in real-time, minimizing damage and ensuring business continuity.
  • Track, document, and report security metrics, providing actionable insights and recommendations to leadership.
  • Secure multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure) and collaborate with IT teams to implement cutting-edge security measures.
  • Foster a culture of security awareness and continuous improvement across the organization to minimize risks.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Post-secondary education in computer science or a related field.
  • Familiarity with incident handling, SIEM tools, EDR, and cloud security.
  • Experience with firewalls, vulnerability management, and penetration testing.
  • Knowledge of SOC 2, ISO 27001, and other security frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience securing multi-cloud environments and automating security tasks.
  • Proficiency in scripting (Python, PowerShell) and analyzing system logs.
  • Experience with advanced tools like Metasploit and vulnerability scanning.

What’s in It for You?

  • Vacation Mode On: 4 weeks of paid vacation + 12 wellness days.
  • Flex Life: Remote-friendly setup, work-from-home allowance, and a flex allowance to make your work-life balance flawless.
  • Growth Fuel: A professional development budget to level up your skills.
  • Impact & Ownership: Your work here will be meaningful, impactful, and directly tied to Certn’s success.
  • Team Energy: Join a group of dynamic, passionate go-getters who are rewriting the rules and having fun doing it.
