Job Description
Work Arrangement: Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Markham Elevation Centre (MEC) three times per week, at minimum.
Introduction: We are seeking a highly-motivated agile technical leader for the ART (Agile Release Train) Manager role for the Embedded Platform Suspension Product. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the Suspension ART is delivering the right things at the right time to customers and stakeholders. This role was previously known as ART PM (Product Manager) and is part of the Vehicle Mechatronic Embedded Controls (VMEC) engineering department at General Motors Canada.
What You'll Do (Roles & Responsibilities)
Demonstrate Leadership
- Demonstrate thorough technical understanding of the Suspension domain (requirements, inhouse controls/software work, deployment activities, supplier capability & landscape, etc.)
- Lead, support and/or actively engage in all product-related ceremonies & forums, such as: Program Increment Planning, Iteration Retrospectives, ART Inspect and Adapt Workshops, etc.
- Demonstrate drive for relentless improvement (e.g., providing feedback, identifying and acting on improvements to product/process).
Own the ART Roadmap and Vision
- Develop, maintain and effectively communicate the ART Roadmap, Product & Solution Vision, including rationale behind prioritization of work.
- Proactively collaborate with Product Team, internal/external customers and stakeholders to understand priorities, dependencies, deliverables and timing needs.
- Create and effectively communicate Program Increment Objectives.
Own the ART Backlog
- Ensure alignment with product strategy and vision.
- Review, prioritize and manage work requests coming into the ART and document in the ART backlog.
- Lead ART backlog refinement activities to ensure readiness for PI Planning.
Ensure Product Completeness
- Verify work has been completed with high quality as per definition of done criteria.
- Support ART leads to ensure ART features are accepted & released on time.
- Lead and/or participate in all product-related forums (e.g., demos, workshops, ART ceremonies) to assess product readiness.
Your Skills & Experience (Required Qualifications):
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics, Software, Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering or similar field.
- 7+ years of embedded software development experience, preferably in the vehicle dynamics domain.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a geographically dispersed team.
- Experience with automotive software standards and working in an agile environment, preferably SAFe.
