Position Description
Title: Manufacturing Manager
Department: Operations
Location: Truro
Immediate Supervisor: Operations Manager
Status: Full-time
Position Purpose: The Manufacturing Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the textiles manufacturing process, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. This role requires a strong leader with a proven track record in safety leadership, quality improvement, production performance, lean implementation, and energy reduction. The ideal candidate will also excel in supervisor development, crew hiring, training, retention, strategic objective deployment, and capital planning.
Principle Accountabilities
- Safety Leadership: Promote and enforce a culture of safety, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and standards.
- Quality Improvement: Implement and maintain quality control processes with QMS ISO9001 to ensure the highest standards of product quality.
- Production Performance: Monitor and optimize production processes to achieve performance targets and meet customer demands.
- Lean Implementation: Lead lean manufacturing initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce waste using Intertape Performance System (IPS).
- Efficiency Improvements: Identify and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Energy Reduction: Develop and execute plans to reduce energy consumption and improve sustainability using EnMS ISO 50001 certified program.
- Supervisor Development: Mentor and develop supervisors to enhance their leadership skills and performance.
- Crew Hiring, Training, and Retention: Oversee the hiring, training, and retention of production staff to maintain a skilled and motivated workforce.
- Strategic Objective Deployment: Align plant operations with strategic objectives and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Capital Planning: Manage capital projects, including budgeting, planning, and execution.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing management role, preferably in the plastic textiles industry.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and quality control standards.
- Proven experience with lean manufacturing principles and efficiency improvement strategies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
