About The Role

The HSE Coordinator, reporting to the HSE Supervisor and Regional HSE Manager, is required to have field experience in the Buildings construction industry (Institutional, Commercial, or Industrial) and must be willing to travel across the province to various project sites. Key responsibilities include client management, direct client interaction, providing safety status updates and statistical data, preparing site reports for both the organization and the client, mentoring coordinators, and monitoring the HSE Management System across multiple projects.

As An HSE Coordinator At Graham You Will

  • Arrange or conduct necessary training for workers and Supervisors.
  • Assist in equipment inspections, prepare reports, and follow up on any noted deficiencies.
  • Correct unsafe conditions when possible and report uncorrected conditions to the project Superintendent or Supervisor.
  • Ensure all required reports and meeting minutes are filed and sent to appropriate personnel for review and corrective action.
  • Assist, conduct and coach workers in Behavior Based Safety (BBS) and Field Level Risk Assessment (FLRA). Also, assist in the development and/or review of Project specific Safety Plans (PSSP).
  • Review and revise, as required, Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs) to ensure consistency with HSE MS and compliance with site-specific regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure Emergency Response Plans (ERP) and related documents, bulletins, and notices are posted and communicated to workers.
  • Compile documentation (both digital and physical) and summarize HSE statistical data, identify undesirable trends and recommend corrective action
  • Accompany local government inspectors and project Superintendent during inspections and ensure compliance corrections are made.
  • Utilize strong Leadership and communication skills, advising project management on the actions necessary to maintain an acceptable level of safety, ensuring regulatory compliance on the job site.
  • Ensure all controlled products on projects have current safety data sheets (SDS) and other required documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with the maintenance program for tools and equipment on the project.
  • Assist project Supervisors with conducting incident investigations, analysis, and completion of incident reports and summaries.
  • Review incident reports and maintain monthly statistics to identify undesirable trends.
  • Support the Project Managers, Superintendents and HSE Regional Manager to ensure all Elements of the HSE MS are communicated and implemented on project sites.
  • Be accountable for accurate & timely reporting; assist the Regional HSE Manager to analyze trends and initiate processes to address performance issues related to maintaining safe and healthy worksites
  • Audit site safety performance and evaluate HSE MS implementation; recommending corrective actions as needed and follow up to ensure implementation.
  • Contribute expertise to investigation of all incidents, when applicable

To be Successful at Graham, you will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Post secondary education in a related field or equivalent combination of post secondary education, trade certification or training and work experience. (Certs, Diplomas, Degrees, etc.).
  • Minimum of 2 years of related HSE field experience or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of the OH&S Act and Regulations and a general understanding of Safety Systems.
  • Basic computer skills (Word/Outlook/Excel/PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver materials and make presentations in a group or classroom situation.
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification an asset.
  • Commerical building construction field experience.
  • Self-motivated and independent.
