Our Assessment and Taxation Department is looking for a dedicated Data Collector to join the team.

Position Responsibilities

This position supports our Assessors by collecting information about residential properties in the City of Grande Prairie, including dimensions of buildings, construction details, condition, and other attributes that affect value. The successful candidate will be updating critical data to ensure an accurate valuation of properties.

Duties

The challenge will be to perform a variety of general assessment duties for the Assessment/Taxation Department, including but not limited to the following:

  • Update assessment records by performing exterior inspections of properties, measuring, updating photographs, and perform data entry & verification
  • Data entry of self-reported Request for Information (RFI) surveys submitted by property owners
  • Significant interaction with the general public/property owners in communicating basic assessment operations & practices
  • Effectively collaborating with the Residential Assessors to ensure the information gathered is accurate and up-to-date
  • Represent the City with professionalism and integrity with all city departments and external customers

Qualifications

You will bring a mature attitude and the ability to work independently, set priorities, meet established deadlines and maintain documentation. You must demonstrate effective communication, problem-solving skills, the ability to enter data as well as scheduling and record-keeping skills. You also must have the physical ability to meet the demands of working in all weather conditions.

  • Completion of first-year Business Administration or related discipline
  • Any appraisal/assessment education or experience
  • Valid Alberta driver's license
  • Must provide own vehicle (compensation is provided)

Hours

The standard workweek consists of an average of 35 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor.

Compensation

Starting Salary $26.96 per hour as per the Out-of-Scope Agreement.
