Manufacturing Technician Job Description

Overall Responsibility:

Operate automated manufacturing machinery, responsible for monitoring and inspecting the quality of all products in the assigned work area, making minor adjustments to machinery ensuring consistent quality of goods.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Operate and tend to automated manufacturing equipment, including robotics and fixed automation equipment.
  • Interpret and understand machine readouts and adjust settings to accommodate for material variance and quality requirements.
  • Conduct regular quality inspections to ensure a good quality product based on pre-determined standards.
  • Assist with machine changeovers, operating overhead cranes to change machine fixtures, and setting up pre-programmed automation systems.
  • Record accurate production data in computerized systems.
  • Independently conduct thorough pre-shift work cell inspections.
  • Conduct regular and end of shift housekeeping duties.

What You Bring to the Company

Education/Accreditation:

  • Grade 12 or GED required.
  • Some college or certification in manufacturing or technology seen as an asset.

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Experience utilizing visual work instructions independently.
  • General mathematical skills required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous exposure to robotic or automated manufacturing.
  • Knowledge or exposure to welding is an asset.
  • Exposure to ISO14001 and TS16949 standards is an asset.
  • Experience in World Class Manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives is an asset.

Hours of Work:

  • 40 hours a week plus overtime.
