Position Description
The Terminology Standards Analyst II is responsible for the clinical integrity and standardization of the hospitals clinical data. The Analyst uses their clinical and technical knowledge to map facility system codes to the electronic Child Health Network (eCHN) enterprise terms. The analyst works closely with hospital personnel to resolve standardization issues and to ensure quality and integrity of the data is accessible through the eCHN clinical viewer.
Here's What You'll Do
- Maintain the mapping and standardization of the clinical enterprise database.
- Maintain and enhance the enterprise terminology mapping standards to ensure alignment with international terminology standards such as LOINC (Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes) and SNOMED (Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine Clinical Terms).
- Develop and document processes and procedures required for the effective use and management of the clinical database and repository.
- Perform daily mappings of dictionary extracts from the provincial electronic Health Record (eHR) systems which include Radiology Information System (RIS), Laboratory Information System (LIS), and Medical Record (MR) reports.
- Evaluates clinical codes in HL7 message data flow to ensure that data is posted accurately in the eCHN clinical viewer and support standardized data interoperability.
- Works with stakeholders in resolving clinical errors.
- Participates in site system upgrades: a comprehensive process requiring dictionary extracts analysis of one or all three domains (LAB, Diagnostic Imaging and MR), data feed integrity analysis, terminology mapping to LOINC and SNOMED, works with the site for issue tracking and resolution, data verification, HL7 analysis and post live data monitoring.
- Effectively collaborate and participate in a team environment with the data and other teams.
- Performs quality assurance by reviewing and analyzing output reports on terminology dictionary builds to ensure accuracy and integrity of clinical data.
- Maintains privacy in compliance with PHIPA.
Here's What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science, medical radiation sciences or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of LOINC, UCUM, SNOMED CT, and HL7 code systems.
- 2+ years of clinical experience in hospital/medical laboratory environment.
- 2+ years of experience in medical data processing.
- Experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) or Radiation Information Systems (RIS) as well as clinical data reporting in a live patient environment.
- Working knowledge of LAB and/or DI data, tests, procedures, and policies.
- Understanding of medical / hospital business process cycle.
- Ability to adapt to change efficiently and effectively.
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion objectives.
- Ability to learn new tasks quickly.
- User knowledge of the Unix operating system is preferable.
