J.D. Barnes Limited is currently looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated SURVEY SUPPORT & EQUIPMENT COORDINATOR in our Markham location.
This position is responsible for providing training and support to staff on survey equipment and support survey IT operations in resolving minor equipment issues and technical support needs. Candidates must have experience with and be familiar with field survey practices and GPS concepts, and be knowledgeable in the use of total stations, GPSs, levels as well as data collector technology. In addition, this position requires a working knowledge of CAD systems and software, field data reduction and feature coding. This role will also be responsible for organizing, tracking and updating all purchases, repairs and rentals/loans of survey related equipment and related documentation for all divisions in our firm. The successful applicant must be able to initiate and organize a large equipment inventory, track movement of office and field equipment, follow up on repairs and coordinate equipment to meet the needs of the divisions. This role will be to communicate with suppliers, divisional managers and equipment coordinators regarding survey equipment needs, repairs, lost & damaged items. In addition, this position will monitor SmartNet logins and interact with the accounting department for the purchasing of new equipment. Applicants must also be able to pick up and deliver purchased and/or repaired equipment, as required.
Requirements:
- Related education (Administration, Survey, IT), and/or 1 year of experience in a similar role is preferable; knowledge of surveying equipment is an asset but not required
- Aptitude to research and learn new field and office surveying technologies and techniques and an interest in survey equipment functionality and efficiency.
- The successful candidate must also have the ability to work independently, be flexible to work either inside or outside and have superior communication and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to be assertive and pivot to meet changing needs
- Strong problem-solving, researching and analytical skills
- Excellent time management skills and detail oriented
- Proactive and takes initiative on projects and tasks
- Valid G Driver's License, access to vehicle
- Knowledge in Office 365 software, i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
