Fedcap Canada is excited to play an integral part in the transformation of Ontario’s Employment Services system in its role as the Service System Manager for multiple catchment areas. Fedcap Canada employees will work in partnership with service partners focused on providing tailored support for unemployed people, including those with disabilities, on their journey towards employment and into sustainable work. Our goals are to enhance local capacity while amplifying the good work and best practices already underway.

Position Summary:

Working in close collaboration with Finance Supervisor(s), the Finance Specialist will assist in any or all facets of Finance including but not limited to: Payroll, Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables, Budgeting and Forecasting, Expense Management, Cash Management, Internal Audits, and Claims Validation.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Collect, review, log, code, and submit all accounts payable invoices approved for payment by the Finance Supervisor.
  • Receive and verify incoming bills, log into the accounting system, ensure proper job costing accounting, and ensure timely payment.
  • Research and resolve all issues concerning outstanding accounts payable.
  • Ensure financial and accounting processes comply with Company and Funder regulations, along with adherence to provincial and federal laws.
  • Review profit and loss statements to identify gaps and find relevant solutions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for financial operations and transactions.
  • Negotiate rates and services with vendors to ensure optimal use of funds.
  • Maintain vendor relationships through timely invoice entry, review, and payment.
  • Prepare monthly cost-reimbursable invoices for submission to the program funder with Supervisor approval.
  • Assist with annual program budget preparation for submission to program funder.
  • Resolve staff payroll disputes in collaboration with the Fedcap corporate payroll unit.
  • Assist in managing credit and collection activities.
  • Work with the Finance Director on ad hoc reports, tools, and/or basic analysis to address financial trends and performance.
  • Conduct month-end closing activities such as revenue accounting, expense accounting, account reconciliation, etc.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or a similar field.
  • Preferably 2 years of accounting and/or auditing experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Capacity to meet tight deadlines and work additional hours when needed.
  • Ability to make suggestions to management based on analysis.
