Production Planner

Reporting to the Production Control Manager the Production Planner is responsible to ensure work for Manufacturing departments is appropriately distributed and to address part planning issues.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Firm and release work orders, performing material availability checks.
  • Review early/late reports to ensure all open work orders are accurate and current.
  • Monitor capacity requirements.
  • Communicate daily with Sales, Production Planners, Senior Planners, Team Leaders, Supervisors, Manufacturing Managers and Purchasing regarding parts issues and priorities.
  • Request overtime, part production transfers to other facilities or outsourcing as needed to manage bottlenecks.
  • Maintain planning information in ERP system.
  • Maintain resource calendars in the ERP System using Shop Resource Maintenance.
  • Coordinate down time recovery plans.
  • Monitor production part inventories and make adjustments accordingly. Perform root cause analysis accordingly and finding solutions for reoccurring parts opportunities.

Education and Experience:

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a Production Planning role.
  • CPIM – Certified in Production and Inventory Management designation or working towards is considered an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook. MRP – Material Requirements Planning and D365 is considered an asset.
