Job Description
The Reliability Engineer will support and lead capital projects, maintenance, and reliability improvement initiatives at the Metro Vancouver Waste to Energy Facility.
A strong focus is required on improving plant and plant equipment conditions through the capital works program and through pre-defined maintenance and asset management strategies as well as thorough analysis techniques.
A key objective of this position is to improve safety, reliability, and plant uptime by applying the most cost-effective maintenance strategies using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), preventing recurring failures using Root Cause Analysis, and optimizing other processes related to maintaining these sites.
Key Responsibilities
Knowledge, Skills and Required Certifications:
A permanent, full-time position is being offered, with a working schedule from Monday to Friday. The primary shift is during the day, starting between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM.
The plant operates 24/7, and the selected candidate must be available to work evenings and weekends if required to meet operational needs or for emergency shutdown projects.
Salary Range
$80,000- $120,000

Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate RCM analyses
- Implement maintenance and reliability strategies into Veolia's corporate computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Supports and manages projects based on the Facilities Capital Works Plan
- Assist with identification and application of maintenance and reliability best practices
- Assist in implementing predictive technologies, vibration analysis, ultrasonic analysis, thermography, PdMA, oil analysis, corrosion detection, dissolved gas analysis, etc.
- Support the lubrication program effectiveness and the hydraulics improvement plan.
- Provide training and lead root cause failure analysis (RCFA)
- Develop asset registers and hierarchies
- Support conducting equipment condition assessments
- Complete equipment criticality analysis
- Conduct root cause failure analyses (Cause Mapping)
- Develop critical spare parts strategies
- Assist by implementing computerized maintenance management systems
Knowledge, Skills and Required Certifications:
- BS degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, chemical, or other related field)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Maintenance Engineer or Supervisor Engineer, or as a Reliability Engineer
- Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (or similar), i.e., CMRP, CRL, ASQ
- Preferred Project Management studies or certification (PMP).
- Motivated and dynamic person with the ability to work independently and part of a team
- Technically oriented (engineering focus)
- Resourceful and proactive
- Good interpersonal skills - Self Motivated, and Self-disciplined
- Skilled in CAD, Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is a must
- Good Communication skills and Active Listening Skills
- Good interpretation skills, speaks and writes effectively, reads and comprehends drawings, graphs, and charts
- Comfortable communicating at all levels of the organization
- Computer literate - possesses good computer skills, i.e., MS Word, MS Excel, Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.
- Possess user working knowledge of CMMS and good command of MS Excel, MS Project, or similar softwares.
- Exposure to Lean Concepts, Reliability, layout design, cost/benefit analysis, labor productivity analysis (time studies, standardized work), safety/ergonomic/human factors.
- Basic Data analysis and new processes adapter.
- Must be comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and wearing a respirator when necessary.
