Accountant

Our client is looking for a self-motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis in the west-end of Ottawa. You will play an important role within the accounting team as you work closely with the Assistant Controller and support a variety of day-to-day operational accounting tasks. The ideal candidate is a team player who enjoys working on-site, rolling up their sleeves, and interacting with various departments to ensure objectives are being met. This role will provide exposure to the full accounting cycle and requires a good understanding of basic accounting principles and procedures. The main responsibilities include:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records at all times
• Process sales and ensure contracts are paid on time
• Reconcile all accounts including bank statements and reports/schedules
• Assist with semi-monthly payroll via Ceridian
• Monthly government remittances
• Reconcile physical inventory accounts
• Prepare daily operating dashboards
• Maintain petty cash system
• Other duties as required

Qualifications:

The main qualifications for this role include:

• Post-secondary education in finance and/or accounting required
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in a similar accounting role
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail
• Proficient in Excel – system savvy

How You Will Be Rewarded:
