Junior Structural Engineer

About The Role

BMT Canada is recruiting for a Junior Structural Engineer to join our experienced team to enhance the capacity and capability of the team.

In this role you will apply broad engineering knowledge to a variety of problems or projects under the direction supervision of a senior or principal engineer/specialist.

The junior structural engineer will have the following responsibilities and tasks:

Technical

• Conduct assessments or engineering calculations under the guidance of a Senior or Principal. Variety of work may be restricted to a few specific fields of work.
• Work will be completed using standardized calculations or established methodologies and the employee is not expected or required to be creating or modifying existing calculations or methodologies.
• Employee has no requirement to actively initiate or contribute to research & development (R&D) activities although these activities are encouraged
  
  

Project Workload/Management

• Work will be arranged and coordinated by the Senior, Principal, Team Lead/Capability Manager, or Project Manager/Program Manager.
• May lead a small project or a portion of 1-2 projects (defined as limited technical scope or project risk), under the guidance of a Senior or Principal, depending on employee’s capabilities and the project specifics.
  
  

Client Requirements

• Employee is expected to participate in client meetings however they are not expected to lead client interfacing activities such as project update meetings or scope of work discussions without the support of a Senior or Principal in attendance.
  
  

Proposal/BD requirements

• Employee is not expected or required to be actively pursuing future projects
• Employee may be requested to provide work effort estimates to complete a certain task
  
  

About You

We are looking for enthusiastic and flexible team members, who possess the following qualifications and skills:

Essential

• University degree in Engineering, in structural, mechanical, materials, or welding specialties
• Typically 0-4 years of relevant experience, or more
• Some experience with advanced non-linear analysis techniques and tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, LS Dyna, or similar
  
  

Desirable.

• Post-graduate degree (MEng., MSc., PhD.)
• Able to achieve designation professional engineer (PEng.)

Salary Range

$75,000-$85,000
