Hybrid Job: This job offers the opportunity to work from home as part of a hybrid work arrangement. This arrangement will allow you to work some days at a TCHC work location and the rest of the time from home. The amount of time required to work at a TCHC work location is flexible, while considering operational and service delivery requirements.

Do you like taking complex information and finding ways to make it simple, accessible, and relevant to a broad range of audiences? Do you enjoy collaborating with various divisions across an organization to inspire and enable teams to re-align people, business process, and systems? The Business Analyst is a critical role within the central Data Intelligence unit. You will provide a range of information, data analysis and reporting services to support strategic planning, performance measurement and research across the organization.
What You'll Do
Data Analysis
- Perform research and analysis on a regular and ad hoc basis to support strategic decision-making.
- Prepare reports to meet the information and data analysis needs of the division, balancing ongoing reporting requirements with special projects.
- Ensure the integrity, quality and accuracy of data.
- Tell impactful stories with data by designing and developing data visualizations and dashboards.
- Provide feedback on business metrics, performance measures and indicators to ensure the company has the necessary insight to monitor progress and improve business processes.
- Conduct analysis to assist with the development of benchmarks and standards.
- Assist in the development, standardization and maintenance of data definitions across the organization.
Requirements Management
- Identify data gaps and emerging information needs to support business performance and progress on strategies.
- Be a liaison between business units and ITS for prioritized initiatives.
- Identify new sources of data and system integration requirements.
- Assist in facilitating Design Thinking workshops, developing personas and writing user stories.
- Translate needs into business or functional requirements specification.
Stakeholder Relationships
- Be a champion for TCHC’s Data Strategy
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with business units.
- Provide advice, support and technical assistance to internal and external stakeholders about data administration, governance and analysis.
- Effectively explain complex data concepts to non-technical audiences, helping to foster a culture of data-driven decision making.
- Assist in the development and management of tracking systems for outcomes identified in business plans for business units.
Research
- Participate in research projects with external and internal partners.
- Manage relationships with external research partners and assist with access to TCHC data.
- Collaborate with division and other staff to interpret data, identify trends, communicate meaning and develop recommendations based on findings.
What You'll Need
- Completed post-secondary education related to the job description or a combination of equivalent education and experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience performing data analysis and developing reports and dashboards to support strategic decision-making in a corporate environment
- Demonstrated experience utilizing computer applications and software packages such as MS Word, Excel and databases. Excellent knowledge of Excel a must.
- Familiarity with PowerBI and SQL experience are considered an asset
- Experience with research, analysis and integration of information / data from multiple sources.
- Innovation and creativity to find simple ways to convey complex data.
- Proven ability to build relationships across teams and with external partners
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
- Excellent writing skills to clearly and concisely present ideas to support decision-making
- Detail-oriented, with attention to data accuracy and interpretation
- Demonstrated ability to prepare correspondence, reports, speaking notes, and presentations
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Knowledge of the housing sector is an asset
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Intellectual curiosity and an interest in social housing
- Some project management experience required to meet internal deadlines and provide excellent internal customer service.
