The Human Resources Generalist requires extraordinary interpersonal skills and a passion for managing positive working relationships and meeting Gateway objectives. This position assists in leading the full Human Resources (HR) function at all corporate locations, acts as the subject matter expert and provides guidance and coaching on all HR matters to corporate employees and the management team. This role requires an aspiring leader with acute decision-making skills who serves as mentor and communicates with senior management to resolve issues and help manage projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively partner with the management team, including identification of organizational development needs and overall alignment of HR programs and systems to achieve business results
  • Manage all employee and labor relations issues, including grievances, discipline and termination procedures.
  • Work proactively with management and employees to ensure a productive and respectful workplace environment.
  • Deliver full recruitment services from sourcing and interviewing to employee offers.
  • Provide advice and guidance on attendance and disability management, health and safety, human rights, and performance management, while ensuring compliance to BCLC, GPEB, and HR related legislation.
  • Provide coaching and resources to the HR team, employees and managers with respect to career development, training, compensation, recruitment, performance management and employee relations programs.
  • Assist in compiling relative HR metrics, analysis and reporting.

What You Bring

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible human resources experience and/or equivalent combination of related education and experience or equivalent with 1 year in a generalist role.
  • CHRP and/or CHRL designation is an asset.
  • Experience working within unionized environments.
  • Knowledge of all applicable HR legislation; HR functions and ability to develop, implement and administer programs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills and negotiations skills to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Proven high level of communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, computer software packages, presentation software, email and HRIS.
