Shop Foreman

Dawson Truck Centres is looking for a Shop Foreman who will oversee daily operations, supervising a team of technicians while ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.

In this role you will be a valued member of Dawson International Truck Centres, working in a permanent, full-time position of Shop Foreman, reporting to the Manager, Service. This role is responsible for leading the team to be proficient and productive, assisting management in making a positive environment. Your base location will be Kelowna, B.C.

• Supervise service department activities, including technicians, ensuring quality workmanship and completion of maintenance and repair tasks.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to staff on company best practices, safety procedures, and job duties, while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of service technology.
• Ensure compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, safety, and on-time delivery, while resolving work problems and improving productivity and quality.
• Act as a Service Technician, when necessary, assist service advisors with repair estimates and technical questions, and serve as the first point of contact.
• Oversee requisition of materials and supplies, distribute up-to-date service information, and advise mechanics on work requirements.
• Perform quality control checks during and after work completion to ensure all tasks are performed.
• Establish methods to meet productivity goals and support production planning to meet objectives.
  
  

What You Bring

• Journeyman HD Technician certificate with valid CVIP (or willingness to obtain with company assistance) and proven mechanical abilities.
• Supervisory and leadership experience, including motivating, training, appraising staff, and effective team-building skills.
• Ability to work independently in a busy environment, with strong routine maintenance operations experience.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with corporate departments, business partners, and customers.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, with resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability to incorporate new methods into existing practices.
• Strong planning, organizational, and implementation skills for programs, goals, and procedures.
• Valid driver's license (Class 3/1 preferred) and ability to lift/move over 50 pounds.
