Brenntag, a global leader in chemical distribution, is seeking a highly skilled and results-oriented Director of Operations to join our team. This leadership role will report to the President in Canada and work closely with the President of Global Supply Chain. The Director of Operations will play a pivotal role in optimizing our supply chain operations, focusing on Last Mile Service Operations (LMSO), improving processes, ensuring safety, controlling costs, and driving continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will be able to understand and improve processes across procurement, operations, and transportation, all while working in tandem with the Regional President and site leadership on investment and optimization projects.

Job Description:
- Collaboration & Leadership: Partner with the Regional President in Canada and the President of Global Supply Chain to align on business goals and drive operational excellence across all sites in the region. Work cross-functionally with the leadership team to implement strategic initiatives related to operations, supply chain optimization, and cost management.
- Supply Chain Optimization: Drive improvements in the Last Mile Service Operations (LMSO) sector, focusing on enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our supply chain processes. Manage procurement, operations, and transportation processes to ensure smooth and efficient delivery of chemicals, managing any bottlenecks or issues that arise.
- Utilize a data-driven approach to identify inefficiencies, implement cost-saving measures, and streamline operations.
- Health & Safety: Promote a strong culture of safety across all levels of operation, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company standards. Work closely with safety teams to monitor and improve workplace safety protocols, minimizing risks and accidents.
- Continuous Improvement & Cost Control: Implement and oversee continuous improvement initiatives that increase operational efficiency and reduce costs. Manage headcount and workforce optimization to ensure resource efficiency while maintaining operational standards.
- Investment Program Support: Collaborate with the President and site leadership to assess and prioritize capital investments in the business, aligning with long-term growth and operational goals. Ensure that all investment decisions contribute to the optimization of the supply chain and overall business performance.
- Project Management: Lead key projects aimed at improving processes, implementing new technologies, or enhancing operational efficiencies.
- Drive timely and successful project execution, ensuring clear communication, risk management, and adherence to deadlines
Education and Experience:
- Customer Orientation: Strong focus on both external and internal customer satisfaction, ensuring that service levels meet or exceed expectations.
- Results-Oriented: Proven track record of driving operational excellence, delivering measurable results, and achieving business goals.
- Safety-Oriented: Strong commitment to maintaining and improving health, safety, and environmental standards across all operations.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Supply Chain Knowledge: Extensive experience in procurement, operations, and transportation within the chemical distribution industry.
- Bilingual: Proficiency in English and French (both written and spoken) is required to communicate with a diverse, multi-lingual workforce.
- Project Management Expertise: Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects from concept to completion, ensuring successful outcomes.
- Industrial Chemistry Background: Knowledge of industrial chemistry, including understanding chemical properties and handling requirements.
- Continuous Improvement Background: Experience in implementing Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies to enhance operational processes.
