Why is this role important:

The Merchant participates in setting prices and promotional plans for an assigned portfolio within the Home Entertainment and Center of Store category and conducts analysis to determine the effectiveness of both. A strong focus on understanding our customer’s needs and preferences is critical to success in this role. We have a passion for customers/retail industry and are looking for a Merchant who will thrive in a fast paced environment by taking ownership of their portfolio, has a passion for their business and a desire to grow the Home Entertainment category collaboratively.

What you'll do:

  • Promotional Planning, analytics and Execution against strategy (promo pricing, forecast and vendor relationship)
  • Own the promotional planning process, working with vendors to achieve incremental sales growth and profitability
  • Shelf space to sales review via assortment optimization team
  • Conduct post-mortem review of category performance – base line sales and promotional sales reviews
  • Work with space planning to build and assess planograms changes
  • SAP Pricing, Costing, and Assortment and Article Creation
  • Preparing weekly distribution for promotions – winter and summer seasonal programs
  • Analyze and determine regular shelf price
  • Market analytics – understand competitive landscape and manage pricing strategy
  • Support negotiations with vendors for in-line business
  • Maintain promotional price at store level to ensure store profitability
  • Work with Merchandising Operations on store merchandising plans
  • Prepare and send out store communications (store training materials, store merchandising standards, product and supply updates)
  • Own vendor and Inventory Management and seasonal forecast
  • Conduct vendor meetings to discuss assortment, planning and store visits
  • Participate in weekly huddles with all locations and provide updates as required
  • Coordinate and manage instore pilot programs and report on performance

What you bring:

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience
  • 1 to 3 years merchandising or category experience
  • Proven ability to contribute to category plans in-line with corporate strategies
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to price, cost, assort items, create articles and upload templates in SAP
  • Proven Analytical experience
  • Proficient with MS Office (Excel proficiency mandatory)
