You As a Civil Estimator Will

  • Analyze contract documents (drawings, specifications, contract deliverables, etc.) to prepare self performed cost estimates of projects for earthworks (site development, road building, detail excavation).
  • Assemble accurate, timely and well-organized estimates, including hard-bid, construction management and design-build.
  • Prepare quantity take offs.
  • Organize sub-contractor quotes when the bid is successful, re-writing binders and assisting the buy-out process.
  • Set-up new cost estimates in bidding software, including self perform scopes complete with materials and subcontractors.
  • Develop schedule for accuracy and determine production rates, complete with production rates, sequencing, and logic.
  • Contact subcontractors and vendors for specific divisions to get external pricing.
  • Monitor the success of a project, noting potential challenges and building relationships with sub-trades for future opportunities.
  • Identify potential project risks.
  • Attend pretender meetings & site visits, where applicable.
  • Work with proposal & operations teams in writing execution methodology, safety plans, Indigenous Engagement Strategies, and quality documentation.
  • Present Estimate to management for review.

  • Good communicator with attention to detail and good documentation skills.
