Architectural Controls Intern

Overview:

The Architectural Controls Intern will assist the Architectural Coordinator and team in the review and management of architectural submissions for residential and multi-family homes in Brookfield communities. This role provides hands-on experience in architectural review, compliance, and coordination, while fostering relationships with builders and stakeholders. The intern will contribute to maintaining the quality and integrity of community designs by supporting inspections, database management, and communication with internal and external teams.

Key Deliverables:

• Submission Review & Support: Assist in receiving, reviewing, and documenting architectural submissions for compliance with guidelines. Collaborate with the team to provide feedback to builders.

• Site Inspections: Participate in site inspections to verify compliance with approved designs. Document deficiencies and assist in coordinating resolutions with builders.

• Database Management: Support the management and updating of architectural controls databases and online submission systems. Ensure accuracy and efficiency in document handling.

• Builder and Homeowner Liaison: Respond to preliminary architectural queries from builders and homeowners. Foster positive relationships through clear and professional communication.

• Administrative Support: Assist in preparing reports, maintaining records, and processing invoices for inspections and other related tasks.

What You Bring:

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Urban Planning, or a related field.

• Basic knowledge of architectural design principles and an ability to read technical drawings (e.g., working drawings, grading plans).

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or design software such as InDesign.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

• A proactive and detail-oriented mindset with the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

• Familiarity with municipal by-laws and design guidelines is an asset.
