What You Will Do
Reporting to the Executive Director, Clinical Operations, the Director, Regional Paramedic Program will provide leadership and guidance in the effective delivery of services in alignment with the established mission, vision, values, and policies of The Ottawa Hospital. They are responsible for setting and achieving the long term and short term operational, clinical, financial, quality, and utilization/effectiveness goals for their assigned portfolio. Key areas of active involvement include strategic and operational planning, resource allocation, utilization monitoring, quality initiatives, and corporate concerns including legal and human resource issues.
The Director, acting as key liaison for internal and external stakeholders, will provide expertise and consultation to ensure engagement, compliance, and understanding of strategic objectives and priorities. This role will lead and support process changes to facilitate continuous improvement of operational guidelines, policies, and procedures, ensuring efficiency standards are met, and proactively identifying and mitigating any potential risks.

What You Will Bring
- Master's Degree in Health Sciences or Business Administration;
- Ten (10) years of healthcare professional experience in progressively responsible positions, preferably in an acute-care hospital setting, including managing large team(s) of professionals;
- Five (5) years of progressive leadership experience;
- In depth knowledge of pre-hospital and emergency/critical patient care;
- Familiarity with emergency medical systems, provincial legislation related to emergency care, principles of quality management, staff supervision, adult education & budgeting processes;
- Knowledge of quality improvement principles and methods;
- Superior analytical skills required for decision-making of complex departmental issues;
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills required to effectively handle highly sensitive issues and to manage and motivate staff;
- Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to provide direction to others in managing competing priorities and balancing multiple tasks with often unpredictable or short deadlines;
- Familiarity with a variety of computer software programs for data collection, analysis, report writing and for preparing presentations and proposals.
- Registered Nurse, Licensed Paramedic, or other regulated health professional;
- Proficiency in English and French - oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
