The Faculty of Health Sciences is a large, diverse, and comprehensive unit, comprised of seven Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Communication Sciences and Disorders and Food and Nutritional Sciences), a large Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and four Research Centers. The Faculty has more than 4,000 undergraduate students and more than 900 graduate students (200 PhD students).

Responsibilities

Storyhouse increases the reach and impact of research in the Faculty of Health Sciences through crafting accessible, engaging narratives to communicate new information with people who can implement, inform, or act upon it – such as policymakers, collaborators, practitioners, professional associations, study participants, and educators. To connect recently published research with relevant audiences, Storyhouse provides an interdisciplinary professional development opportunity for students. This unique narrative performance training program fuses together knowledge mobilization, science communication, narrative theory, and performance studies. The narratives generated in Storyhouse, in turn, support our faculty members' research programs and networks.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Community College Diploma OR Undergraduate Degree in a related field

Experience:

  • 1 year of work experience supporting research in a related technical field

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:

  • Provide week-to-week planning, scheduling, and administrative support for the current student cohort of the Storyhouse program
  • Provide direct coaching on narrative development and delivery
  • Act as a first point of contact for students currently engaged in the program
  • Collaborate with the FHS Knowledge Mobilization team to troubleshoot issues as needed
  • Support current student team developing an expanded workshop curriculum for the Storyhouse program
  • Help with the assessment and evaluation of the Storyhouse program this term and collaborate on future planning
