The department of Fitness Weight Centre Operations is seeking a positive, energetic, and collaborative individual to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination of services delivered through the gymnasium, Sports Equipment Centre, and some peripheral recreational spaces across NAIT campuses, with a primary focus on ensuring efficient day-to-day operations of these spaces through direct interaction with internal and external user groups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of facility bookings and scheduling for main gymnasium

  • Coordination of staffing and supervision for gymnasium and peripheral areas

  • Coordination of Sports Equipment Centre operations

  • Coordination of facility set up and take down for all major stakeholders

  • Well-being & Conference and events project support activities

Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques

  • Knowledge of requisition ordering, purchasing, receiving, and inventory maintenance procedures

  • Knowledge of program and event coordination methods and techniques.

  • Good understanding of laundry equipment

  • Good understanding of gymnasium equipment (bleachers, audio, projector, game day tables and chairs, sport-specific equipment, dividers, tarps)

  • Planning and problem-solving skills

  • Computer skills including Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel); BookKing Software, and Peoplesoft

  • Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain productive working relationships

  • Customer services skills with a customer/student centered focus

  • Ability to comprehend and retain minor mechanical skills or processes related to the maintenance & operation of varied equipment

Qualifications:

  • A minimum post-secondary diploma in business, administration or management is required. Fitness industry equivalencies may be considered

  • 3 years of experience working in a recreation environment or facility operations (gymnasium or sports equipment centre coordination experience) is required. Experience in facility maintenance and coordination is required

  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered

  • Valid Alberta driver’s license as travel between campuses is required

  • Experience working in a post-secondary environment is an asset

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).

Remuneration: $61,997.52 - $83,085.08 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification – Coordinator I).

This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
