Role description:
Our Social Impact Manager will play a pivotal role in advancing Arcadis Canada’s social impact and sustainability strategies, programs, partnerships and initiatives that support our impact goals. This role reports to the Country Director and Canada Senior Leadership Team, and works in close collaboration with the Marketing, Communications, Commercial Enablement, Business Units, Operations, Purchasing and People Services teams. Success in this role will be demonstrated by effectively developing and delivering the company’s social impact and enterprise strategies, driving awareness of Arcadis’ impact, building and executing efficient and effective partnerships and programs, and meeting the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
Role accountabilities:
Sustainability Measurement and Management:
- Work with our Canadian Sustainability Advisor to develop and implement our decarbonization strategy, methodologies to accurately measure and report data on our carbon emissions and reductions across Canada, the electrification of our fleets, and our efforts to protect biodiversity.
- Focus on building partnerships with organizations that are working toward energy transition, biodiversity and/or nature preservation, water conservation, circularity, and social impact.
- Support the business in enhancing our selection of sustainable projects with an emphasis on net zero as well as Passive House and mass timber design.
ESG Impact Reporting and Communications:
- Collect, analyze, and report data related to sustainability, procurement, and social impact initiatives.
- Ensure transparency and accuracy in all ESG communications.
- Support the preparation and publication of Arcadis Canada’s annual impact report and other Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) regulatory reporting requirements.
- Support the business in identifying, assessing, and earning sustainability and social impact recognition, credentials, and awards.
- Monitor and report on emerging issues, trends, and the success of our impact communications initiatives, in close collaboration with cross-GBA Client Leads to help improve our positioning; and, with the Arcadis Canada Marketing and Communications team to amplify our achievements.
Social Impact and Philanthropic Giving:
- Oversee the creation of a Country Impact Council and provide advice and guidance to the Council in all areas of social impact.
- Establish a Country Social Enterprise Program and create and deliver training, education and awareness.
- Participate or advise internal and external committees as needed (ex. PAIR, Affinity Groups).
- Represent Arcadis at key social impact and sustainability conferences and events to promote the brand and our values.
- Liaise with other ESG leaders (Indigenous, Net Zero, DEI, etc.) to ensure consistent national approach.
- Develop, nurture, and manage partnerships with national and local community organizations that align with our mission and impact narrative.
- Coordinate employee volunteer programs and other social impact activities.
- Create Arcadis Canada’s corporate giving strategy, including policies and guidelines for financial and in-kind donations, and local and national fundraising initiatives. Evaluate and recommend funding opportunities that align with CAVA’s values and social impact goals. Develop and manage CAVA’s charitable giving programs.
- Track and report on the impact of our philanthropic investments.
- Business development in the context of identifying potential opportunities with existing as well as new clients along with supporting key pursuits/proposals as needed with required social impact content.
- Providing social value expertise throughout the lifecycle of projects from proposals through to project retrospective.
- Building and maintaining engagement and momentum, including areas such as uptake in volunteering.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Strong ability to influence and persuade through compelling narrative.
- Ability to communicate in various formats.
- Thorough understanding of various social impact techniques and practices.
- Some experience in similar industries.
- Strong project management skills; gracefully manages multiple priorities in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
- Demonstrated experience in creating and driving impactful sustainability and/or social impact programs.
- Track record of collaboration and positive, productive relationships with multiple internal and external partners.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information.
- Proficient in MS Office and various PR, social media, and employee communications platforms and applications.
- BA degree in a direct or related field.

The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $178,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
